I have to charge MN residents sales tax. I will need your 9 digit zip code, to use the state's online Sales Tax calculator for your area.

$229 137.5mm to 153.5mm

  Plus Shipping and Handling

Price for a Full Crankset - Arms, 2 chainrings, a SRAM stainless GXP bottom bracket. Plus labor to shorten the arms.

1/30/2024 The Apex are no longer produced. Or at least no longer imported. I know of no similar crank that can be safely shortened.
I still have a few 34/50 Compact Doubles.

Compact Double 34/50t Chainrings
$209 137.5mm to 153.5mm
Rings are the same as 2013 SRAM top of the line "Red" 10 speed.

Apex arms are cold forged 6000 Series aluminum, with a black finish. After shortening, I put a brushed aluminum finish on the ends.

These are "10 speed cranks" meaning the spacing between the chainring mounting surfaces will give chainring to chainring offsets compatible with 10 or 11 speed indexed shifting.

If you have an 8 or 9 speed drivetrain, I'll install an FSA "9 speed kit" which consists of ten 0.2mm (0.008") bronze spacers placed under the inner ring, for $7. This gives 8/9 speed spacing with 10 speed rings.

If you have an 11 speed drivetrain, I can install SRAM 11 speed rings, for an additional $130. But most people have found that 10 speed rings work fine with 11 speed drivetrains. Even Di2

Chainrings  are CNC'd from ultra hard 7075-T6 alloy.
One Key Release crank bolt included.
24mm I.D. drive side bearing, 22mm on the left.

 SRAM had me shorten Apex for their sponsored triathletes.

110mm Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD)

Bottom Bracket;
Apex are supplied with SRAM/TruVativ GXP English threaded BB
I can supply BBs and adapters to fit other frame types.

Q factor; 145mm

Rotor Q-rings & Ceramic BB upgrades are available at extra cost.

Rotor Q-rings provide a modest advantage on upright bikes. Especially for Triathletes
But on a recumbent the difference is like night and day.
We've got 7 recumbents and not a round ring on any of them.

On recumbents, Q-Rings smooth out the uneven pedaling and significantly reduce the stress on your knees. And in most cases, riders report more speed for the same effort.

As one gent wrote when ordering a 2nd set for his other 'bent;
"Riding my 2 Catrikes back to back, the round rings feel lumpy and the lumpy rings feel round"

Why they work so differently on 'bents is complicated.  Please check out my posting on the subject on Bent Rider Online

Cyclocross 36/46t Chainrings - Add $40

Mix-N-Match Chainrings
The 46t chainring is optimized for use with a 36t inner ring and the 50t chainring is optimized for use with a 34t inner ring. But I’ve sold several with 34/46 & 36/50 and have heard no negative feedback about shifting. No charge to swap the 34t for a 36t, but $30 to swap the 50t for a 46t.

If You Don't Want Any Rings

I have to buy complete cranksets with rings and BBs. Because I sell so many Apex cranks with Rotor Q-Rings or SRAM 11 speed rings installed, I have a box full of the unwanted stock rings. So I can only give a small credit for the stock rings, if you are paying for a chainring upgrade.

I have a similar situation with the supplied GXP bottom brackets. Unless you are upgrading to Ceramic, I can’t give you any credit for them.

Turnaround time

Cranks are shortened to order. Because of a damaged shoulder and arthritic hands I can only shorten 1 set most days.  Cranks are added to the queue in the order payment is received.  When payment arrives I'll let you know where you stand.
